Codz account
What a Codz account adds, how to sign in on codz.com and on your Mac, and how to sign out or delete it.
Your Codz account is what connects your Macs to a plan. Running agents doesn’t need one: the free app works signed out. You need an account for Codz Pro and Team, synced usage history, Codz Remote and a public profile.
The same account works on codz.com, in the Mac app and in Codz Remote. There are no passwords: you sign in with Google, Apple or GitHub, or with a code sent to your email.
Create an account
- Go to codz.com/login.
- Choose Continue with Google, Continue with Apple or Continue with GitHub, or enter your email and click Email me a sign-in code.
- If you used email, type the 6-digit code from the message and click Verify code. The code expires after 5 minutes.
Your first sign-in creates the account. Sign up in the Mac app goes through the same page.
Sign in on your Mac
- Open Settings ▸ Account and click Sign in.
- Choose Continue to sign in, Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub. Your browser opens codz.com.
- Sign in there. If the browser is already signed in, codz.com asks which account the app should use: click Continue, or Use another account.
- The browser says You’re signed in, and Codz comes back to the front.
Your browser handles the whole sign-in, so Codz never sees your credentials. Continue to sign in offers every way in, including Apple and email.
The same sign-in also opens from Sign in to Codz in the account menu at the foot of the sidebar, from the Extras step of setup, and from the Sign in button on a locked Pro page or in the menu bar.
While Codz waits for the browser, the sheet shows Cancel sign-in. If the browser didn’t open, or opened the wrong profile, click Copy sign-in link and paste the link into the browser you want. A sign-in you don’t finish within 15 minutes expires.
Your account on the Mac
Signed in, Settings ▸ Account shows:
- Your name and email, with Edit profile, which opens Settings in your dashboard on codz.com.
- Your plan. Free offers Upgrade to Pro; Codz Pro offers Manage plan; Codz Pro, through your team offers View plan. All three open the same page, which carries the plan too.
- Sync usage to, when you belong to a team organization. See Teams & organizations.
- Log out on this Mac.
- Usage sync, with the Sync usage switch and Sync now.
- Device ID under Advanced, with Copy, in case support asks for it.
Signed out, the page shows Sign in and Sign up, and what Codz Pro adds.
Account settings on the web
Your account on codz.com is your dashboard. Its Settings page, at codz.com/dashboard/settings, shows your name, email and plan, and is where you set:
- Display name.
- Username: lowercase letters, numbers and underscores, 3–32 characters. It is the address of your public profile, codz.com/username.
- Public profile and Global stats. Both are off until you turn them on, and both need Codz Pro. Sync & profile covers what they show.
Click Save to keep your profile changes; Global stats saves as soon as you switch it. On Free, the plan offers Upgrade to Pro. The sidebar shows your plan too: Free, Pro, Pro · via team or Pro · App Store.
Organizations is where you create a team and choose where your synced usage goes; see Teams & organizations. Billing & Invoices has your plan, payment method and invoices; see Billing.
Sign out
- On your Mac: open Settings ▸ Account and click Log out, or choose Log out in the sidebar’s account menu. Codz asks Log out of Codz? first. Pro features stop until you sign in again, Sync usage turns off, and your chats, projects and history stay on the Mac.
- On codz.com: click Sign out under Session in your dashboard’s Settings, or in the menu under your name at the foot of its sidebar.
- In Codz Remote: open Settings and tap Sign out. It also unpairs that device.
Delete your account
Account deletion is a request. Email support@codz.com, or in Codz Remote on iPhone open Settings, tap Delete account and then Submit Deletion Request.
As the Privacy Policy says, deleting your account removes your profile, your synced usage and your organization memberships. It doesn’t touch your Macs: the histories your agents keep there aren’t Codz’s to delete.
Troubleshooting
The browser didn’t open
Click Copy sign-in link in the sheet and open the link in your browser yourself. Codz keeps waiting while you do.
The sign-in request expired
“This sign-in request expired. Start again from Codz.” means the sign-in took longer than 15 minutes. Click Sign in again in Settings ▸ Account.
The sign-in link isn’t active
The browser tab belongs to a sign-in you cancelled or started again. Close it and start signing in again from Codz.
The email code doesn’t work
“That code is incorrect or has expired” means the code was mistyped or is older than 5 minutes. Click Resend code (it becomes available after a minute) and use the new one. After too many wrong tries, request a new code.
Your session expired
“Your Codz session expired” means the Mac’s sign-in could no longer be renewed. Sign in again in Settings ▸ Account to resume sync.
